Dan Henkel has served on the Niceville City Council since 2008. He was re-elected in 2009, 2013 and 2017. He is Niceville's Mayor Pro Tem and currently is fulfilling the duties of our Mayor. Dan has been appointed to serve as Mayor Pro Tem on three separate occassions by his fellow councilmembers.
Dan believes seniors and families are the backbones of our community. He will always put seniors and families first.
Dan is a leader in ensuring our police and firefighters have the necessary equipment and training to keep us safe.
Dan has been instrumental in bringing us sidewalks, the Senior Center, Turkey Creek Park, and the Niceville Landing.

Dan retired from the United States Air Force after a 29-1/2 year career serving as a navigator - electronic warfare officer. He completed seven tours into the combat zone in support of the Global War on Terrorism, with over 570 hours of combat flying time. He and Melissa have been married for 45 years, raising four sons in Niceville. They now have 11 grandchildren. Dan and Melissa are members of First Baptist Church of Niceville.
